Droidhack – OpenData Ottawa

Instead of having our monthly Droidhack this month, we decided to promote the OpenData Ottawa hackfest going on this weekend on December 3rd. The concept is the same as our Droidhacks except that the goal is to use the City of Ottawa’s open data sets for interesting/creative purposes.

Hurry up and signup!

We shall have a regular Droidhack next time.

Next Meeting: 16th of November

Here is the lineup of presentations we have for this month’s meeting.
  • AnDevCon report – Simon MacDonald
  • QuickActions library for Android – Carson Brown
  • PhoneGap + JS Libraries Experiences – Marc Meszaros
PS: We are also looking for presentations for next month’s meeting. If you are interested in presenting let us know on the mailing list or contact the organizers.

Looking for content manager for Ottawa Android blog

We’d really like to get some more activity up on the blog, but we need a few more volunteers to help out.

Most of the responsibilities would be to find various Android dev related posts and simply share them on the blog.

The only real requirement is that you follow a number of Andorid blogs, reddits (android dev related), etc and are willing to re-share, post them on the blog.  If you’re willing to create content that’s awesome too.  This could be getting guest bloggers to write articles, etc.

Contact organizers@ottawaandroid.ca if you are interested.

Android AOSP Source Plugin

This article shows how to install the AOSP Source plugin for eclipse so when you are working with the Android API you can actually view the contents of various functions to get a better understanding of what’s going on under the hood.

For those who like reading source to get a better understanding or just hate black boxes, this is definitely up your alley.

Next Meeting: 19th of October

We are still looking for presentations, so feel free to get in contact with us or send us a message on the mailing list.
